Membership Benefits

Being a member of the GPDD allows your organization to effectively engage in an international dialogue to build advocacy, increase awareness, and influence public policy related to international disability and development. Specifically, membership in GPDD offers:

International Influence and Awareness Raising

• Engage in discussions related to disability, development and policy with representatives from government agencies, UN agencies, private sector, foundations, universities and research institutions, international NGOs and DPOs.
• Bring your voice and opinions to awareness raising activities and GPDD meetings with senior level representatives from governments and UN Agencies, such as side events during the Conference of State Parties, MDG goals, etc
• Strengthen relationships with donors, foundations and private sector and help influence international development and international cooperation

International Visibility and Exposure

• Provide information on your organization through the GPDD’s website
• Promote your organization’s work and activities through the GPDD’s newsletter
• Participate in the GPDD international listserve which currently sends information to over 600 disability organizations around the world
• Publicize international job opportunities and postings on the GPDD website

International Collaboration and Coordination

• Participate in a global network of peers through listserves and web portals designed to increase knowledge sharing, build partnerships and work collaboratively
• Participate in the GPDD’s Membership Forum
• Participate in knowledge sharing opportunities such as Thematic Working Groups and Communities of Practice

GPDD Direction and Strategic Planning

• Be eligible to serve on the GPDD Board of Directors, who vote on the strategic direction of the GPDD and monitor its performance
• Help shape agendas and provide suggestions topics of GPDD conferences, webinars and/or the GPDD Membership Forum
• Guide the direction of the GPDD’s activities and operations through providing input in survey or through special meetings
