GPDD Global Partnership for Disability and Development promoting an inclusive society

GPDD Governance Structure

The Global Partnership for Disability and Development (GPDD) was conceptualized in response to the recognition that poverty alleviation in developing countries and genuine progress toward achievement of the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) requires that people with disabilities be explicitly taken into account in national and international economic development efforts.

Since its conception, the GPDD has evolved into a broad, multi-constituency Global Partnership to combat the social and economic exclusion and impoverishment of people with disabilities and their families in developing countries. With a view towards expansion, carrying forward work plans, and supporting countries in their efforts to accelerate the inclusion of people with disabilities in development efforts, the GPDD organized its First Membership Meeting in Eschborn, Germany, in 2008, where the GPDD Charter was approved, an Interim Board of Directors was elected, and priorities for the next five years were identified.
